Q4 earnings: despite rough year, tech stocks are still rising

Facebook's stock is up 27 percent since the start of the year, while Snap's is up 71 percent

While 2018 was touch on the tech industry in general, it was a record setting year for venture capital, one that finally saw a resurgence in the IPO market as well, after years of down years. It's likely that 2019 will be another strong year, with a slew of big name tech companies that have either already filed, or are planning to go public, this year.

What better way to gauge the prospects for companies about to enter the market than to look at how those already there are performing? Despite taking a beating in the press over the last year and change, the majority of tech stocks are still going strong, beating expectations and seeing their stocks rise in the process.
