eFuneral, Fastback Networks, CapLinked, Tapestry, and Logical Choice all raised funds this week

Seed Stage


Online end-of-life planning resource eFuneral received a $250,000 investment commitment from nonprofit venture development organization JumpStart.

Video cooking magazine Panna raised $1.35 million in first round funding. The round was led by Anthem Ventures, with participation from other investors, including Lerer Ventures, Crosslink Ventures, Maveron, Shari Redstone's Advancit Capital, RSL Venture Partners, Launchpad LA, David Tisch's BoxGroup, Rick J. Caruso, Ken Siskind, Jay Livingston, Dan Rose, Aaron Schiff and David Levy.

Software developer Beyond Verbal closed$2.8 million round of funding led by prominent angel investor Kenges Rakishev, and new VC, Genesis Angels.

Usability testing service YouEye raised $3 million in seed funding. The round was led by Bobby Yazdani,Brian McClendon and Beth McClendon.

TenFarms, a startup focused on advertising technologies for smartphones and tablets, raised $2.7 million in funding from undisclosed angels.

Online-only premium basic apparel brand Basico raised $500,000 in seed funding led by Initial Capital, along with Brazilian angel investor Guilherme Soarez.

Australian startup Tapestry, which makes an app for Android tablets to help seniors stay connected to family members, raised $400,000 in new funding in the form of a grant from Commercialisation Australia.

Crowd-sourced town hall site CrowdHall raised $700,000 from the Las Vegas Tech Fund, The Brandery, Vine Street Ventures, Calvin Soh, Greg Kidd, Social Starts, John Tan, Northwestern Capital, as well as assorted friends and family.

Early Stage

FTBpro, a London-based fan-generated media platform for online football, raised $5.8 million in financing from Battery Ventures and Gemini Israel Ventures. 

International lifestyle content site Webflakes secured $3 million in Series A funding from Orens Capital, Genesis Partners and additional investors including Donald R. Katz, Mark Carges, Aayush Phumbhra, Warren Adelman, and Stephen Grabiner.

Video online shopping site Joyus raised $11.5 million in its second round of funding.The round was led by InterWest Partners and Time Warner Investments, with participation from existing investors, Accel Partners and Harrison Metal

Photo collection startup Chute raised $7 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Foundry Group, with existing investors Freestyle Capital and U.S. Venture Partners also participating.

FoodPanda, Rocket Internet’s global food ordering service, raised more than $20 million from a group of investors that includes AB Kinnevik and Phenomen.

Online private company investment platform CircleUp raised $7.5 million in Series A funding, led by Union Square Ventures, with participation from Google Ventures, Maveron and Rose Park Advisors.

Music learning platform JoyTunes closed a $1.5 million round of Series A financing, led by Genesis Partners. Founder Collective, Kaedan Capital, Joe Lonsdale, Zohar Gilon, Eran Shir and Dana Messina, among others, also contributed.

Augmented-reality startup Dekko raised an additional $1.3 million to close out a $3.2 million round. Investors include Echo Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Venture 51, Blumberg Capital, Launch Capital, Thomvest, Eniac Ventures, and Zig Capital, as well as angels like Howard Lindzon, Erik Moore, Dan Conway, and Raymond Tonsing.

Gaming platform OUYA raised $15 million in funding. The round was led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and included Mayfield Fund, NVIDIA, Shasta Ventures, and Occam Partners.

Cloud Computing SaaS start up MadeiraCloud has closed a $1.5 million Series A funding round from Sequoia Capital.

Digital entertainment distributor Yekra raised $3 million in Series A funding led by Las Vegas angel investor Maurice Gallagher, as well as UK-based Bray Capital and angels Shay O'Brien and Michael Rogers.

DraftKings, a provider of online daily fantasy sports, has closed a $7 million Series A round of funding led by Atlas Venture.

CapLinked, a cloud-based platform that enables investors to manage business transactions, closed on a Series A round of $2.1 million from Conversion Capital, Inflection Ventures, The Artesian Group, FF Angel, Siemer Ventures, 500 Startups, and Peter Thiel.

Logical Choice, a technology solutions company for K12 and college that offers a wide range of products and services, raised $5 million from Vert Capital.

Late Stage

Interactive health compan HealthTap raised $24 million in a Series B round led by Khosla Ventures, with help from existing investors Mayfield Fund and Mohr Davidow Ventures.

Email marketing campaign creator Movable Ink raised $11 million in a round led by Intel Capital. Contour Venture Partners, Metamorphic Ventures, ff Venture Capital, Silicon Valley Bank, and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati participated.

PlaceIQ, a provider of location intelligence solutions for marketers, raised $6.75 million in a Series B financing round led by U.S. Venture Partners, and including IA Ventures, Valhalla Partners, kbs+ Ventures, and several prominent angel investors.

YCharts, a startup that calls itself a financial terminal for the web, raised $3.875 million in funding. The round was led by Morningstar and Reed Elsevier Ventures, with participation from the company’s earlier investors.

Video news service NowThisNews raised $4.8 million. Lerer Ventures, Oak Investment and Bedrocket, SoftBank Capital all participated, along with previous investors.

Fastback Networks, a mobile infrastructure company, closed a $15 million round led by the venture firm Matrix Partners. Foundation Capital, Granite Capital; and Juniper Networks also participated.
