In a recent study from InsideFacebook, it was found that fewer users over 55 are coming back to the social networking site. In April and May of this year, Facebook saw the number of active users in its well, older demographic of users, decreased by 650,000. Perhaps this has to do with the recent Twitteresque changes Facebook has made, like real time streaming updates – I know I was slightly confused when they came out.
Overall, Facebook’s US audience growth has slowed
significantly in the past couple months, says the study. In February
and March, Facebook grew by 10.8 million active users in the US. On
the other hand, in April and May, Facebook grew only by 4.35 million
active users in the US.
