Seed-stage


Custom-made goods marketplace Makeably raised $650,000 in seed funding led by Great Oaks, with participation from 500 Startups and other angel investors.

Home improvement and repair marketplace Porch raised $6.25 million in funding. Investors include SV Angel/Ron Conway, Chamath Palihapitiya, Javier Olivan, Jeff Skoll, Bill Lee, Geoff Entress, Charles Moldow, and 20 others.

Calendar app Sunrise raised a $2.2 million seed round led by Resolute.vc and NextView Ventures.

Dexplora, which builds tools for sales organizations, received an investment of $1.2 million from venture Creandum and DN Capital, Chris Perret, Adrian McDermott and John Taysom.

WeStudy.in, a site that helps Russian students study at schools in the U.S., raised $300,000 in funding from Mikhail Frolkin, the managing partner of HeadHunter.

Fashion retailer Cuyana, which makes responsibly sourced, high-end apparel and accessories sold only online, raised $1.7 million from Canaan Partners 

Shipping API EasyPost raised $850,000 in seed funding from Y Combinator, SV Angel, Start Fund, CrunchFund, Mesa+, Andreas Resch, Kevin Barenblat, Lars Kamp, Ullas Naik, Shawn Bercuson, and Rahul Vohra.

Children’s storytelling app Hullabalu raised $1.8 million from investors including SV Angel, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Rothenberg Ventures, Liberty City Ventures, as well as angels like Gokul Rajaram, Garry Tan, Chris McCann, Alexis Ohanian, Brian Sugar, Mike Greenfield, Fran Hauser, Andy McLouglin, Michael Levit, Scott Tannen, Josh Spear, Soraya Darabi, and others.

Social polling company Imagoo raised $1.2 million from an angel investor to fuel the launch and development of its mobile platform.

 

Early-stage

Thalmic Labs, makers of the wearable gesture control device MYO, closed a $14.5 million Series A financing round led by Spark Capital and Intel Capital.

London-based mobile tech company YPlan raised $12 million (£7.9m) in Series A financing. The round was led by General Catalyst Partners, along with Wellington Partners, Octopus Investments, A-Grade, SLOW Ventures Fund, and Shakil Khan.

Scripted, a marketplace for businesses, raised $4.5 million in Series A financing led by Crosslink Capital and Redpoint Ventures.

Playtox, a mobile game developer of free-to-play browser games, raised $3 million in funding from VC firm Runa Capital.

Augmented reality platform Daqri raised a $15 million Series A led by Tarsadia Investments.

Mobile shopping service Shopmium closed a $5.6 million Series B round, with backing from Ventech, Accel Partners and ISAI.

Ayla Networks, an Internet of Things company, raised $5.4 million in Series A financing led by investors Voyager Capital and Crosslink Capital.

OpenStack systems integrator Mirantis raised $10 million from Ericsson, Red Hat, and SAP Ventures, along with existing investor WestSummit Capital.

Real estate search portal Housing.co.in raised $2.5 million in funding from Nexus Venture Partners, India’s leading VC fund.

Brand Networks, provider of integrated social software solutions and digital marketing services, raised $68 million in growth financing from AEA Investors.

Internet of Things startup Netatmo raised €4.5 million ($5.8 million) funding round, its first external funding. Investors include Iris Capital, FSN PME and Pascal Cagni.

SocialBro, provider of cloud solutions for Twitter business users, received £1.2M in venture capital funding. The lead investor was Scottish Equity Partners.

New startup N3twork raised $12 million in a round led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Also participating were Floodgate and Google Ventures.

 

Late-stage

Mobiquity, a professional services firm that helps businesses develop mobile solutions, raised $12 million in a Series B round of financing l ed by NewSpring Growth. Sigma Partners and Longworth Venture Partners also participated.

Edtech platform Instructure raised $30 million in a Series D round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with help from EPIC Ventures and TomorrowVentures.

Home goods e-commerce company WorldStores raised £10 million ($15.35 million) in a Series C round of funding led by Serena Capital, along with Balderton Capital and Advent Venture Partners.

Digital wealth management firm Personal Capital closed a $25 million Series C round led by Crosslink Capital and joined by BlackRock, Institutional Venture Partners and Venrock.

ResearchGate, a network dedicated to science and research, closed a $35 million round of Series C financing from Bill Gates, Tenaya Capital, Dragoneer Investment Group and Thrive Capital.

InsightSquared, provider of a Salesforce Analytics product for small and midsize businesses, secured $8 million in Series B funding from DFJ and Atlas Venture.

Mobile commerce platform Shopgate completed a "high seven digit dollar Series B financing" from European investing firms Northcap and Creathor Venture.

Real-time content delivery network Fastly raised a $10M Series B round from August Capital.

Web sports retailer Fanatics raised $170 million from Singapore state-owned investment company Temasek Holdings Pte, and Alibaba Group.

Panzura, a provider of global cloud storage solutions, closed a $25 million Series D funding round led by Meritech Capital Partners with participation from Matrix Partners, Khosla Ventures, Opus Capital and Chevron Technology Ventures.

SoFi, a private student lender, secured a $41 million lending facility from The Bancorp.
