Seed to late, consumer to business: the capital is flowing

Seed-stage

Location-sharing app Echoecho won the support of Google Ventures and UK-based venture firm PROfounders Capital in the form of $750K in seed funding.

 

 

 

 

Lanyrd.com, the social conference dictionary, closed a $1.4 million round of seed funding from primarily UK investors alongside some US angels. Principal contributors are Index Seed and PROfounders, along with Joi Ito, Esther Dyson, Joshua Schachter, Matt Biddulph, Blaine Cook, Matt Haughey, Tim Cederman-Haysom, William Burks Spencer, YCombinator and Start Fund.

 

Early-stage

Global mobile advertising marketplace Adfonic raised an additional $7.5 million in funding from existing investors, with Gordon Shields being one of the major backers in this round.

AppFirst, an SaaS-based provider of an application problem resolution system, raised a $4 million Series A funding round led by Javelin Venture Partners, with participation from original backers FirstMark Capital and First Round Capital.

Backupify, provider of data protection and management services for cloud-based applications, secured $5 million in Series B funding led by Avalon Ventures, with participation from General Catalyst and Lowercase Capital

BountyJobs, an online marketplace connecting employers with national headhunters, closed $5 million from existing investors led by Greylock Partners.

chillChill, a site for VJs (video DJs), raised a $1.5 million angel round from Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint, Atlas Venture and investor Paul Kedrosky.

 

 

SOS Online Backup, provider of cloud-based online backup and data protection, secured $3 million in Series A funding round from Splashpond Investors.

 

 

Spreaker, a service that lets you create a live Internet radio show for free, closed a $1.1 million angel round led by a European group of investors.

Exercise technology startup Striiv raised $6 million in Series A funding led by Dr. Ronald Chwang with iD Ventures, with angel participation from Colin Angle of iRobot, Dado Banatao of Tallwood Ventures (private investment), along with other angel investors.

Mobile search and social media company Taptu received €2.5 million ($3.5 million USD) from DFJ Esprit and Sofinnova.

 

Trunk Club raised $11 million in a Series A round led by U.S. Venture Partners, with help from Greycroft Partners, Apex Venture Partners, and Anthos Capital

 

Late-stage

Cloud infrastructure solutions provider Morphlabs secured $5 million in a Series C round of funding led by BroadBand Tower, one of the company’s strategic partners, and a private Indonesia-based investor group.

ringcentralVirtual phone system RingCentral raised $10 million in new funding from new investor Scale Venture Partners and Cisco.

 

TrueCar, a resource for finding accurate prices for new and used cars in your area, raised $200 million in debt and equity financing.  Participants in the round include a long list of current investors.
