The cloud infrastructure platform gets backing from BBT and an Indonesian investor

Cloud infrastructure solutions provider Morphlabs announced Tuesday that it has secured $5 million in a Series C round of funding led by BroadBand Tower, one of the company’s strategic partners, and a private Indonesia-based investor group.  Morphlabs previously raised a $5.5 million Series B round and a $1.5 million Series A round, bringing its total raised to date to $12 million.

Founded in 2007, Morphlabs equips administrators and software developers with cloud infrastructure via its mCloud solutions, which include the mCloud Data Center Unit (DCU) and the mCloud Rack.  The mCloud solution gives enterprises a low-cost method of controlling their cloud infrastructure.  Utilizing open-source software and commodity hardware, Morphlabs provides enterprises with the tools to implement cloud technology either on-premises or hosted private cloud.

“Over the past year, Morphlabs has forged strategic partnerships to innovate, build and push the boundaries of the cloud in order to democratize access to enterprise-class efficient computing for IT organizations,” said Winston Damarillo, CEO of Morphlabs, in a statement. “We’re thrilled to use this round of funding to grow our team and to deliver highly-available cloud environments for enterprises that might not otherwise be able to benefit from the cloud because of the challenges associated with existing public and private cloud deployment options.”

Morphlabs raised a Series B round of funding in July 2010, which allowed it to double its headcount from 25 to 50 employees, as well as expand its reach throughout the United States and Asia.  The company plans to use the new funds from this round to fuel its deployment in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region, as well as specific areas in North America.

In May 2011, Morphlabs announced a partnership with Arista Networks, BroadBand Tower Inc., CoreSite Realty Corporation, and Nexenta Systems, among others.  Other partners include Amazon Web Services, OpenStack, Citrix, Intel, Novell, and more.

The company is headquartered in Los Angeles with operations in the Philippines, Japan, and Australia.  Morphlabs says it plans to make additional funding announcements before the end of this year, which will help fuel its European expansion as well as its ASEAN expansion.
