Executives to discuss how we're ramping up virtual care

On July 1, Vator, along with HP, will be holding the Future of Virtual Care event as part of the  Invent Health series.

The #inventhealth salons are quarterly "intimate" events hosted by Vator, HP and UCSF Health Hub, where the audience (100-200) and select speakers interact around one topic. Topics have included "Mental Health", "Reinventing the doctor's role", "Future of clinics", "Lifestyle", etc and are discussed by influencers from various backgrounds to provide a 360-degree perspective. The goal is to create an environment conducive to creating connections amongst guests and to have a solid discussion and/or debate around one area of healthcare that's ripe for innovation. 

The topic this quarter is: “The Future of Virtual Care.” We live in a data-rich world in which technology is gathering huge swaths of population data including our own unique real-time inputs that combined can generate incredible new insights about our health. Moreover, due to COVID-19, society has had to embrace telehealth and remote services as a new form of lifestyle and care procedure to reduce virus transmissions. What are these virtual care protocols, and new devices in the home designed to engage and communicate with us, monitor and measure our activity, to ultimately collect, organize and analyze? 

Here's who we will speaking: 
Priya Abani has been CEO of AliveCor, the developer of a device that can turn any smartphone into a clinical-quality ECG recorder, since August 2019. Prior to joining AliveCor, Priya served as a general manager at Amazon for over three years and before that she was a Senior Director at Intel, and also spent time at Marvell.

Founded in 2010, AliveCor's core product is its KardiaMobile EKG device, which records accurate ECGs and heart rate on a mobile device via the AliveCor app. Users just put their fingers on the device's electrodes, without any wires, patches or gels required and, as long as they are within 12 inches of their smartphone or tablet, it will take an EKG recording. 

The company has raised $69.3 million in funding from investors that include Omron Healthcare, Mayo Clinic, Burrill & Company, Khosla Ventures, Oklahoma Life Science Fund and Qualcomm Ventures. 

Ann Mond Johnson has been CEO of the American Telemedicine Association since 2018. Before that she was the CEO of Zest Health, was an advisor and chairman of the board of managers at ConnectedHealth and Senior Vice President at WebMD.  

Established in 1993 as a non-profit organization and headquartered in Washington, DC, the American Telemedicine Association an international resource and advocate promoting the use of advanced remote medical technologies. ATA and its membership work to fully integrate telemedicine into transformed healthcare systems to improve quality, equity and affordability of healthcare throughout the world.

The ATA now includes more than 400 organizations.

Nico Arcino is Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships at Kaiser Permanente. He has been with the organization is various capacities for the last 25 years. 

His current role is internal and external partnerships. Since Kaiser Permanente is a large health care organization, he’s tasked with bridging meaningful relationships both inside and outside as well as overall, bridging health care and technology together.

Established in 1945, Kaiser Permanente consists of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and the regional Permanente Medical Groups. It operates in eight states, has over 12 million members. It operates 39 hospitals and more than 700 medical offices, with over 300,000 personnel, including more than 80,000 physicians and nurses.
