We’ve come a long way from just being a place to upload videos to pitch an idea for funding. To be exact, Vator was never just a venue for pitching videos. It was always a place where startups could present themselves in their own words.

This week, Vator made the ability to communicate what’s happening at your company even easier.

I’m excited to announce that we opened up our “company updates” private beta program to everyone on Vator.

This means that every company has the ability to post short messages on their profile that can also be distributed to their Twitter accounts. Moreover, anyone who turns this feature on for their company has the opportunity to be distributed on our homepage and be recommended to follow in our registration process as well as on users’ dashboards. The other added benefit is that status updates are emailed to your followers once a day.

We initially released the micro-blogging feature around Christmas. Since then about 100 companies joined our private beta. And, during that time, many have attracted a significant following.

For instance, Kosmix now has more than 800 followers. Wetpaint and Buddy Media are closing in on 800, and many others, such as Wize and Nimbuzz with around 500 followers. Kadho, which created its profile last week, already has 225 followers.
