CheckThis, a micro-blogging image service, has just announced that it raised a $910,000 seed round from Lerer Ventures, SV Angel, Index Ventures, Betaworks and Seedcamp. Angel investors Taavet Hinrikus, Steve Martocci and Jared Hecht also participated.

Launching in beta today, this Belgian-born service asks its users to "Tell" (blog), "Sell" (post an item), "Ask" (ask a question) or "Invite" (create an event).

Launched last October, CheckThis has built a service that creates roughly 4,000 CheckThis pages per month and each is viewed, on average, more than 250 times.

With this funding and beta announcement, Checkthis is also relocating from Belgium to New York.

Checkthis seems to walk the line between Twitter and Tumblr to help share personal and found events and interests with a larger community.

With no registration or set-up required, people are offered a frictionless way to post items of interest for other people to check out.

The company goal is to become the Instagram of social publishing -- clean, clear, one-step sharing.

In addition to helping out with relocation, the new funds will be used to staff up the company and continue developing its platform.

To me this service takes a page from Pinterest as well, where it allows people to just scroll through and discover or share with a single click. It looks like more of the Internet services are leaning toward this simplicity in use and design.

Another young startup has also taken this Pinterest, Checkthis model, Mlkshk, and with additional plug-ins or Google Chrome extensitons, it looks like creating profiles and logging into services will really be an antiquated element we can tell our kids about. I'm all for it if it means no more mini-bio writting and remembering passwords.
