- Tempus AI, a technology company leading the adoption of AI to advance precision medicine and patient care, acquired cancer genomics company Personalis for $1.5 billion
- BlackRock, Carhartt, Ford Motor Company, and Google partnered to launch the Alliance for America’s Skilled Trades, a new initiative focused on expanding access to skilled trades training and helping meet the nation’s growing workforce needs. The founding members of the Alliance have already independently committed to supporting skilled workforce training initiatives in 30 states across the U.S.

- The University of Toronto partnered with Cohere, a provider of sovereign AI, to support co-ordination of complex tasks across different systems within U of T’s forthcoming enterprise-wide AI platform

- Elio, a company building sensors designed for artificial intelligence rather than the human eye, raised a $21 million funding round led by Innovation Endeavors and Xora, with participation from Kevin Weil and Scribble VC. Existing investors UpWest and Resolute Ventures continued their support
- Hilo, a healthcare company that provides blood pressure, digital therapeutics, and patient management services, raised more than $119 million in funding after closing a $19 million Series B extension, with new backing from Dell Family Office
- TidalSense, an AI-powered respiratory diagnostics company, raised $19 million from new investor Cross-Border Impact Ventures, a North American health tech impact fund, and returning investors BGF, Airstream Capital and Foresight Group
- Karoo Health, a cardiovascular technology company building an operating system supporting cardiac care, raised a $16.2 million Series A financing round co-led by 7wire Ventures and Allumia Ventures, with participation from First Trust Capital Partners, LLC, SpringRock Ventures, Hyde Park Angels, and other marquee investors
- Prosper Medical, a a telemedicine platform that connects members with physicians for personalized healthcare services, raised $16 million led by FUSE with participation from Aurum Partners, Better.vc, Cal Innovation Fund, Fluent, Latitude Capital, Knoll Ventures, and WTI
- Plazza, a healthtech startup builds a technology-led pharmacy retail and medicine delivery platform, raised $15 million in a round co-led by Accel, Elevation Capital, and Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors All In Capital and Better Capital

- Imagi, a company that helps provide K-12 students and teachers with the tools to teach and build curriculum around coding, basic computer skills, and AI literacy, raised a $4.5 million seed round, with investors including Brighteye Ventures, Day One Capital, and Will.i.am
- Codar, which provides professional tech programs to help people kickstart their careers in tech, raised $1.5 million from undisclosed investors
- Sortmyprep, a vertical AI education platform built for school exam preparation, raised $350,000 in a pre-seed funding round from Boman Irani, Sameer Mehta, Subrat Pani, Rohini Kasturi, and Ranjit Pawar
Policy and government
- Delaware Governor Matt Meyer signed three bills aimed at lowering health care costs, expanding access to care, and protecting Delaware hospitals from private equity ownership. Senate Bill 1 makes permanent Delaware’s requirement that state-regulated insurers spend at least 11.5% of their medical costs on primary care and requires them to offer payment models that reward doctors for keeping patients healthy rather than for the volume of services they bill; Senate Bill 13 expands and standardizes hospital charity care across Delaware, so patients earning less than 300% of the federal poverty level may qualify for free care regardless of insurance status; and Senate Bill 313 establishes a two-year moratorium on for-profit actors gaining control of Delaware health systems
- A federal appeals court rejected a challenge to a settlement agreement, and required the Education Department and Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to continue discharging the federal student loans for more than 500,000 Americans
