The Internet has fallen in love with this hot felon

Felon's perfect bone structure and dreamy eyes take the Internet by storm

You know what’s hot? Danger. But not like, the dangerous danger—the kind that can actually mess up your day and maybe result in your death. I mean like, the fake Internet-y danger. The kind where you’re like “I’m going to watch this scary video on Slender Man, but I have to turn it off after four minutes because I have to go water my spice garden.”

A mugshot circulating on Facebook and Twitter seems to fit the bill for a lot of ladies right now (I just skeezed myself out by typing “ladies”). Stockton felon Jeremy Meeks was arrested earlier this week and his mugshot was posted on the Stockton Police Department’s Facebook page. Maybe it’s his miraculous bone structure or the photo-shoot quality lighting, but a lot of people think he’s pretty nice to look at.

So far, the picture has gotten over 70,000 likes, nearly 20,000 comments, and nearly 9,000 shares. It’s also been making its way around Twitter, where several fake Jeremy Meeks accounts have already popped up.

Some savvy photography majors have even photoshopped Meeks’ face quite convincingly into Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, and Givenchy ads (with the removal of the teardrop tattoo that kind of kills the hotness by reminding you that he’s committed a not-so-hot murder—and please, no “he can murder my vagina” jokes—I considered them too, and it’s tacky).

Confession time: I saw the picture and was like “eh, I guess he’s felon-hot.” And then someone said he’s “reformed,” and then I was like, “game on.”

According to his mother, Katherine Angier, Meeks is a reformed gang member who did some bad things a long time ago, but has since cut ties with his former gang friends and now has a wife, kid, and a job. Angier made a GoFundMe account to raise money for Meeks’ trial. According to Angiers:

“He was on his way to work. With no gang affiliations as per two of the charges. He has old tattoos..which causes him to be stereotyped. He's my son and he is so sweet. Please help him to get a fair trial or else he'll be railroaded.”

So far, the account has raised about $1,100 of its $25,000 goal.

An increase of shootings and robberies in the Weston Ranch area of Stockton has prompted police forces to ramp up their focus on the neighborhood. Meeks was pulled over on his way to work and he was arrested when officers found a gun in his trunk.

So…I guess, mostly reformed? Hopefully? So I don’t feel so gross for thinking he’s hot?
