The key difference between HealthGuru and say your typical health information site like WebMD, is that HealthGuru is specifically targeted at the 18-40 year old demographic. So HealthGuru focuses on the more common problems that may arise in that age range including pregnancy, sexual health, college health, and other relevant subjects. HealthGuru is actually owned and operated by FullTurn Media which has more focused sites like, CollegeHealthGuru where you can find an article called the "Frat Workout," I'll let you check it out for yourself. All the other Web properties can be found via HealthGuru.
The site is also extremely focused on video production and has over 1,000 videos covering around 75 health conditions.
Based out of New York, the company has around 12 employees including a full on video production team. It's grown to attract two million unique visitors per month since its founding 16 months ago. Bo Peabody, co-founder of HealthGuru said, "HealthGuru has improved its comScore rankings each month since its founding 16 months ago and is now ranked fifteenth among all sites in the Health Information vertical. This dramatic growth demonstrates that HealthGuru is providing valued content to its users which is the critical driver of its business model."
The startup plans to use round of capital to expand its channels for traffic acquisition and ramp its revenue generating capabilities.
