Syra Health partners with Washington State to train behavioral health professionals

The company is now active in 20 states across the U.S.

According to Mental Health America, almost a third (28.2%) of all adults with a mental illness reported that they were not able to receive the treatment they needed, and 42% of adults with a cute mental illness reported they were unable to receive necessary care because they could not afford it.

Carmel, Indiana-based  Syra Health helps close those gaps by addressing some of healthcare's most significant challenges, including in behavioral and mental health, by providing services and technology solutions centered on prevention, improved access, and affordable care, all of which have long been major problems when it comes to the mental health care space. The company provides behavioral health and recovery training and support services to help with the recruitment and retention of the behavioral health workforce, offering its solutions to payers, providers, life sciences organizations, academic institutions, and governments.

Syra has partnered with the local governments in multiple states and now it has added one more to the list, announcing on Tuesday a newly awarded contract from the Health Care Authority (HCA) in Washington State.

Under the terms of the agreement, Syra Health will train behavioral health professionals by giving them the latest knowledge and skills to effectively address and manage various mental health and substance use disorders.  

The training will be across seven categories: substance use disorder (SUD) prevention and mental health promotion; behavioral health outpatient; residential treatment; inpatient psychiatric services; recovery support services; SUD treatment and mental health support in correctional facilities; and continuum of care training.

By focusing on both prevention and treatment, the program's aim is to reduce the overall burden of mental health issues and substance use disorders in Washington State, while also enhancing service delivery across multiple care settings. 

This partnership makes Washington the 20th state where Syra Health has an active contract; in November the company signed a five-year contract worth $275,000 by the City of San Antonio to evaluate its Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) Healthy Neighborhoods Project, followed by a one-year, $480,000 contract from the Indiana Department of Health to administer public health and healthcare readiness assessments in January.

Most recently, Syra announced a healthcare workforce contract with the County of Fairfax, Virginia where the company will staff licensed nurses to provide 24-hour nursing care, making it the company's third active government contract in the state of Virginia.
