It's certainly an idea that's been floated out there by numerous people, including his fellow "Shark Tank" investor Chris Sacca, who said earlier this year, "There is a 100 percent chance Mark Cuban becomes President of the United States."
Ralph Nader has also predicted that Cuban will run as a third party candidate in 2020.
Even Cuban himself has openly talked about one day possibly running for President, telling Stephen Colbert in July that he has thought about it, but that his kids are young right now and that he wants to spend time with them.
"Well, it's certainly more of a consideration than it was," Cuban said in an interview with Chuck Todd on "Meet the Press" in May. "You don't have to be the perfect Stepford candidate like you would've been in the past."
So, it's certainly something that has been on his mind. Yet, when he was asked about it by Vator CEO Bambi Francisco at Vator Splash LA last Thursday, his answer was an unequivocal, "no," even going so far as to mock Nader for his prediction.
"What would tip your decision over to say, 'Ok, I'm going to run'?" Francisco asked.
"Nothing," Cuban answer. "You think I'd put myself and my family through this shit show?"
The audience at Splash was a lot more enthusiastic about the prospect than the potential candidate, cheering at the possibility of him running, but it certainly seems like the last few months of watching Hillary and Trump go at each other's throats has soured the idea for Cuban for good.
For now, at least. In four years, when he's inevitably asked once again if he's going to run, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Cuban once again seems more interested than he's currently letting on.
