Seed stage

Upside, a robo-advisor that works for financial advisors rather than their clients, raised a $1.1 million seed-funding round from Cultivation Capital, SixThirty and angel investors, including Suranga Chandratillake, Elaine Wherry, Bruno Bowden, Sean Kell and others.

FullStory, a web analytics startup, raised $1.2 million  led by Google Ventures and Tom Noonan.

HandUp, an app that makes it easier for people to donate to the homeless, raised $850,000 led by Jason Calacanis, along with Boris Wertz, Urban.us, SV Angle, 1776, Marc Benioff, Arjun Banker, Ron Conway, Michael Birth, Cyan and Scott Banister, Thomas McInerney, Leah Pearlman, Karl Jacob, Eric Ries, Scott Wainner, Kathy Salmanowitz, Alexis Ohanian and Tumml.

Elliptic, a provider of an insured Bitcoin storage service, raised $2 million from Octopus Investments. 

BadSeed, an European mobile games startup, raised €250,000 in a funding round from United Ventures. 

Toonimo, a provider of custom animations for websites, raised $2.5 million in a funding round led byTuvia Barak. 

Sr. Pago, a mobile point of sale services in Mexico, raised a $1 million seed round funding from investors that include Jay Adelson and Barrett Lyon.

Wiper, a self-deleting messaging service, raised a $2.5 million seed round from undisclosed investors. 

Job-hunting app Jobr raised$2 million round if funding from Lerer Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Eniac Ventures, Lowercase Capital, The Hive, Tekton Ventures, Structure Capital, Tim Draper, Fabrice Grinda, and a few individuals including Ellen Levy.

Singular, a mobile marketing platform, raised $5 million in seed funding from General Catalyst Partners. 

PredictionIO an open source machine learning servicer for programmers and developers, raised $2.5 million in seed funding from QuestVP, Azure Capital, CrunchFund, Stanford – StartX Fund, Kima Ventures, IronFire, Sood Ventures and XG Ventures.

xTV, which allows organization to create their own realtime TV Network in the cloud, raised $2 million from UST Global. 

MobileX Labs, an app solutions provider, raised a $1.5 million funding round led by Gary Holdren.

Translation platform Unbabel raised $1.5 million in funding from Jared Fliesler, Kevin Rose, Elad Gil, Raymond Tonsing, Roger Dickey, Young Guo, zPark Ventures, Stephan Morais, Alexandre Barbosa, Shilling Capital Partners, Ryan and David Petersen, Jacob Soto, Digital Garage, FundersClub, Klaus Von-Wittgenstein and WeFunder.

 

Early stage

On-demand shipping startup Shyp raised a $10 million round led by Sherpa Ventures, with Homebrew also participating, in addition to some silent partners.

Pond5, online marketplace for video footage and stock photos, raised $61 from Accel Partners and Stripes Group.

Smart heating control company Tado raised €10 million ($13.6 million) from Target Partners, Shortcut Ventures, and other investors.

Boomerang Commerce, an analytics platform for retailers, raised $8.5 million in Series A funding from Trinity Ventures and Madrona Venture Group. 

Social customer service company Conversocial raised $5 million in Series A2 funding led by Octopus Investments with participation from Matt Arnold.

Finnish e-commerce startup Nosto raised $5.5 million Series A round led by Wellington Partners with Open Ocean Capital, Sanoma Ventures and Tekes participating. 

Autobutler, an online platform for car repairs, raised €5.8 million in a round led by Index Ventures.

Rocketrip, provider of an incentive based platform to businesses, raised $3 million ina round led by current investors Canaan Partners and Genacast Ventures, with participation from CrunchFund and Paul Buchheit.

Venture capital firm Plymouth Ventures closed its third fund, called Plymouth Venture Partners III, which surpassed its fundraising target of $60 million.

NetDocuments, a cloud-based document and email management company, raised$25 million round from Frontier Capital.

Relcy, a stealth mobile search engine, raised $9 million in funding from Keith Rabois and Omar Hamoui.

Venture capital firm SherpaVentures closed $150 million in financing from limited partners for its first fund.

Venture debt fund Multiplier Capital closed its first fund, Multiplier Capital, LP, with capital of approximately $227 million. Led by Liberty Peak Capital, other investors include a college endowment, a publicly traded bank, family offices, and high net worth individuals in the U.S. and Canada.

Manzama, a content intelligence platform, raised $1.3 million in Series A funding. Gold Bench Capital led the round with Seven Peaks and Cascade Angels participating.

JFrog, a provider of  tools for software developers, raised $7 million in Series B round funding from VMware and Gemini Ventures. 

IIX, a provider of direct interconnection solutions, raised $10.4 million in Series A Funding from New Enterprise Associates. 

5th Planet Games, a developer of core, free-to-play games on web and mobile platforms, raised $3 million from DCA Capital Partners and Moneta Ventures.

Bay Dynamics, a provider of information risk intelligence, raised $8 million in Series A funding from Comcast Ventures.

Neon Labs an image selection platform for monetizing digital content, raised $4.1 million in Series A funding led by Mohr Davidow Ventures with participation from True Ventures and Steve Blank.

Investing platform dough raised a $25 million funding round from Technology Crossover Ventures.

Sensoria, a wearable technology company, raised $5 million in Series A funding from Reply SpA.

 

Late stage

Venture capital firm Wavemaker Partners, formerly Siemer Ventures, made the first close on its third fund, a $45 million fund called Wavemaker Fund III. 

Anonymous sharing app Secret raised $25 million from Index Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Garry Tan and Alexis Ohanian, SV Angel, Fuel Capital, Ceyuan Ventures, and several others that will “remain a secret.”

Funding Circle, an online marketplace for business lendingraised $65 million in a Series D funding round led by Index Ventures with participation from Accel Partners, Union Square Ventures and Ribbit Capital. 

Investment crowdfunding platform Crowdcube raised £3.8 million ($6.5 million) from Balderton, A further £1.2 million being offered to crowd-backers to bring the round to £5 million.

Venture capital firm Seedcamp raised $28 million in the first close of its third fund. The target is $30 million.

Captricitya cloud-based service that converts information on paper to digital data, raised $10 million in our Series B investment round, led by Atlas Venture.

Vision Critical Communications, a customer intelligence platform provider, raised $16 million in a round led by Georgian Partners, with participation from Northleaf Venture Catalyst Fund and Kensington Global Private Equity Fund.

DICOM Grid, a platform for medical image management and exchange, raised a $6 million round backed by Canaan Partners, CHL Medical Partners, Mayo Clinic and several individual investors.

Venture capital firm NextView Ventures closed its second fund, a $40 million seed-stage fund.

Zooz, an Israeli provider of smart payment technology, raised a $12 million round of investment, led by Blumberg Capital. XSeed Capital, Lool Ventures and Rhodium, as well as new investors Access Industries and Camp One Ventures also participated.

RedMart, a Singapore-based online grocer, raised a $23 million Series B round from Garena, Eduardo Saverin, Visionnaire Ventures and SoftBank Ventures.

Motiga, an indie PC online game studio, raised $20 million from Smilegate, NetEase, and Neowiz.

Payments company Plastiq raised $10 million in Series B financing led by Khosla Ventures with Atlas Venture and Flybridge Capital Partners participating. 

Speaktoit, developer of human-computer interaction technologies based on natural language conversations, raised a $2.6 million Series B round from Motorola Solutions Venture Capital, Intel Capital, Alpine Technology Fund, and Plug and Play Ventures.
