Seed stage

Espresso Logic, provided of an instant RESTful server for developers to connect web and mobile applications to external databases, raised $1.6 million in seed funding from Inventus Capital and other key Silicon Valley angel investors.

Lime&Tonic, a digital concierge service for people’s social lives, raised €1 milllion in angel funding from European and UK angel investors including Graham Potts, Julie Meyer, Cem Sortoglu, Daniel Lynch and Miroslav Boublik.

Food delivery service Sprig raised $1.2 million in seed funding from Brian O’Malley, Simon Rothman, Andrew McCollum, Larry Braitman, Haroon Mokhtarzada, Darian Shirazi, MHS Capital, Jim Payne, Dan Martell, Andrew Garvin, and Pascal Levy-Garboua.

Web security solution Wallarm received a $500,000 seed funding investment from Runa Capital.

Fantoo, a cloud-based email client, raised £450,000 in a seed funding round from Crowdcube.

Lob, a cloud printing and shipping provider, raised $2.4 million from Y Combinator partners and angel investors including Kevin Hale, Dalton Caldwell, Sam Altman, Joshua Schachter, Alexis Ohanian, Paul Buchheit, Garry Tan, and Polaris Partners

Building Robotics, creator of software for people in commercial buildings, raised a $1.14 million seed financing round by Claremont Creek Ventures (CCV), Google Ventures, Formation 8, Navitas Capital, Red Swan Ventures and angel investors.

Tailwind, a software-as-a-service Pinterest analytics and marketing suite, raised $1 million in  round led by i2E, and included participation by SeedStep Angels and numerous individual investors.

AddSearch, a solution for better search inside websites, received seed funding of $650,000 from Vision+, Tekes and the company’s founders.

Newsle, a service that finds articles about people in your network, raised $1.8 million in a round led by Advance Publications.

What3words, which pinpoints any location on the globe with a unique 3 word combination, closed a $500,000 seed round from a group of angel investors, including Guy Westlake.

Granify, a platform that brings real-time big data and machine learning to online retailers, raised $1.5 million from Valar Ventures, iNovia Capital, Klass Capital, BDC, Extreme Startups, Social Starts and angel investors Jared Kopf, Jerry Neumann, Tom O’Connell, Giordano Bruno Contestabile, Adam Caplan, Jamie McDonald, Jonathan James, Nick Koudas and Nilesh Bansal.

Social music application Listn raised $500,000 in a seed funding round from unnamed investors. 

Shopping and deal-finding app Zoomingo raised $1.25 million from Benaroya Capital and Naya Ventures, along with other angels, including Rudy Gadre.

 

Early stage

Loop Commerce, a SaaS gifting solution, raised more than $7 million in Series A funding from a group of investors including Mark Carges, Don Katz, Chuck Geiger, Roy Rubin, Michael Scharff, Novel TMT and Oren Zeev.

Garantia Data, provider of the enterprise-class Redis Cloud service, raised $9 million in a series A funding round led by Bain Capital Ventures and Carmel Ventures, as well as an unnamed "strategic investor."

obile cloud-based field service app maker Coresystems raised $15.5 million in Series A funding from a consortium of private Swiss investors and Peter Zencke.

Appboy, a platform for mobile relationship management, raised $7.6 million in a round led by Icon Venture Partners, with participation from IDG Ventures, Mike Lazerow, Blumberg Capital, T5 Capital, Bullpen Capital and Accelerator Ventures.

GeoPoll, a real-time mobile survey platform, raised a $6.6 million Series A financing round from unnamed investors. 

Gaming startup Seriously raised $2.35 million in seed funding in a round are led by Upfront Ventures and Sunstone Capital.

BugBuster, a smart bug detection for software, raised $1 million in a Series A round led by Business Angels Switzerland, with Polytech Ventures, the Hasler Foundation, and Go Beyond.

Zemanta, which offers content discovery and audience development tools, raised $2 million in new funding from Union Square Ventures and Social Starts.

Zola, a wedding registry website, raised a $3.25 million Series A round of funding led by Thrive Capital.

MediaSpike,  a marketplace for in-game product placement, raised a $5.2 million in a round led by CMEA Capital, with participation from 500 Startups, Google Ventures, Raptor Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Inspovation Ventures, and Silicon Valley angel investors, including Jonathan Abrams, Othman Laraki, Rick Marini, and Naval Ravikant. 

AetherPal, a provider of connected device support software for mobile operators and wireless device OEMs, secured $6 million in funding from New Venture Partners and Point Judith Capital.

Social dating app Hinge raised a $4 million Series A from Great Oaks, Social + Capital, and others. 

RapidMiner, a predictive analytics company built on an open stack, closed a $5 million round led by Earlybird Venture Capital and Open Ocean Capital.

Betable, a real money gaming platform, raised $18.5 million in Series A funding round led by Venture 51 with additional funding Greylock and Founders Fund.

IID, a shared cyberintelligence company, raised $8 million in Series A funding from Bessemer Venture Partners.

CyPhy Works, a developer of advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, raised a $7 million financing round led by Lux Capital, with participation from General Catalyst Partners, Felicis Ventures and several undisclosed angel investors.

 

Late stage

Video and picture sharing service Mobli received a $60 million investment from América Móvil.

Smartphone maker BlackBerry received $1 billion from Fairfax Financial Holdings, along with a group of other investors.

Project Frog, a provider of technologically-advanced component buildings, raised $20 million in Series D funding from CCM US and members of the Cleantech Syndicate, including its manager, McNally Capital.

Restaurant discovery service Zomato raised $37 million from Sequoia Capital and Info Edge (India) Limited.

E-commerce portal Linio raised $50 million in a round led by Latin Idea, with participation from existing investors, as well as JP Morgan Asset Management, Investment AB Kinnevik, the Tengelmann Group, Summit Partners, and Rocket Internet.

Gainsight, which develops customer-focused software, raised a $20 million Series B round of funding led by Bain Capital Ventures. Battery Ventures andSummit Partners also participated.

Coho Data, a provider of software-defined networking integrated storage appliances for high performance at cloud-scale, closed a $25 million Series B funding round led by Ignition Partners and Andreessen Horowitz.

Social relationship platform Sprinklr closed a $17.5 million Series C funding round led by Battery Ventures and Intel Capital.

Aria Networks, an independent provider of capacity management software for telecoms and cloud services providers, received $4 million in a round led by Seraphim Capital, along with the Capital For Enterprise Fund.
