Seed stage

Travel news startup Skift raised an additional $1.1 million seed round.  The new funding was led by Lerer Ventures and included Ironfire Angel, MESA+, Advancit Capital, Growlab/LX Ventures, who invested together. New angels investing in this round include Jason Calacanis, Michael Cunniff, Duncan Jennings, Sean Keener, Shakil Khan, Martin Nisenholtz, Paul Noglows, and Michael Yavonditte.

OwnerListens, which helps online businesses prevent negative reviews, raised a $1.1 million seed round from Promus Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Commerce Ventures and a group of A-list angel investors.

To do list app Any.DO raised a$3.5 million seed round of funding led by existing investor Genesis Partners, with participation from Innovation Endeavors, Joe Lonsdale, Blumberg Capital, Joe Greenstein and others.

Zoobean, a site that makes it easy to find children’s books that have been recommended and curated by parents, raised $500,000 in seed investment led by Kapor Capital. Private investors also participated in the round. 

Pangea Payments, a money transfer company, closed its first $1 million round of financing. Institutional investors that participated in the round are OCA Ventures, Origin Ventures, i2A Fund and FireStarter Fund. Angel investors include Larry Kaplan, Bill Gee and Bryant Keil.

BitPay, a payment processor for bitcoin, raised an additional $2 million in seed round financing. The round was led by Founders Fund, with Heisenberg Capital also participating.

 

Early stage

Video news platform Wochit raised $4.75 million in Series A funding led by Redpoint Ventures, Cedar Fund and Greycroft Partners.

Business intelligence provider RJMetrics closed $6.25 million in Series A funding led by Trinity Ventures with the participation of current investor SoftTech VC.

Enterprise networking startup Auvik Networks raised $6 million from Celtic House Venture Partners, Rho Canada Ventures, and BDC Venture Capital IT Fund, along with more contributions from Auvik’s founders.

Natural language-styled comparison engine VERSUS IO closed a $2.8 million Series A round led by Earlybird Venture Capital. 500 Startups, Hightech-Gruenderfonds, Lars Dittrich, and Dario Suter also participated.

Drone startup Airware raised a $10.7 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, and backed by Google Ventures.

GraphLab, provider of an open source distributed graph computation framework, raised a $6.75 million Series A funding led by Madrona Venture Group and NEA.

Online currency exchange TransferWise closed a $6 million series A round led by Valar Ventures. SV Angel, a small number of angels, and TransferWise’s existing backers IA Ventures, Index, Seedcamp, and TAG, also participated.

Social banking startup Akimbo Financial closed its $850,000 convertible bridge round, which will become part of a $3 million Series A Preferred round. Graham Weston, co-founder and Chairman of Rackspace Hosting, Inc.; Tom C. Frost, Jr., former CEO and Chairman Emeritus of Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc.; and Akimbo co-founder Tom O. Turner participated in the funding.

Biz Stone's Jelly raised an undisclosed round led by Spark Capital with additional investment by SV Angel. Jelly also received funding from a group of high profile individual investors: Jack Dorsey, Bono, Reid Hoffman, Evan Williams, Jason Goldman, Al Gore, Greg Yaitanes, Steven Johnson; and Roya Mahboob.

CrowdOptic, a startup with technology for showing where people are pointing their smartphone cameras, raised $1 million from existing investors, including Silicon Valley Bank, Ray Lane, and CEO Jon Fisher.

Smartwatch company Pebble raised a $15M Series A led by Charles River Ventures. 

 

Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) provider AirWatch raised a $25 million investment by Accel Partners. 

Data analytics platform EdgeSpring raised a total of $11 million in  financing, including a $9 million series A, from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Lightspeed Ventures.

WegoWise, a building performance analytics provider, raised $3 million in financing from Boston Community Capital.

 

Late stage

Rightware, provider of UI software and performance tools, closed a $5.2M Series B round with Inventure, Nexit Ventures, and new investor Finnish Industry Investment.

Software-defined storage platform PernixData closed$20 million Series B round, led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) with additional support from existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and industry leaders Mark LeslieJohn Thompson and Lane Bess.

Online legal services platform Rocket Lawyer raised $15 million in funding from an unnamed “strategic investor."

Virtual desktop storage provider Atlantis Computing completed a $20 million Series D round of financing, led by new investor Adams Street Partners, with Cisco Systems, El Dorado Ventures and Partech International also participating.

Apptio, a provider of on-demand TBM solutions, closed a $45 million Series E funding round led by funds managed by Janus Capital, The Hillman Company, and an unnamed global institutional investor. Andreessen Horowitz, Greylock Partners, Madrona Venture Group, Shasta Ventures, and accounts managed by T. Rowe Price Associates, also participated.

Cloudant, a provider of a distributed database-as-a-service (DBaaS), raised $12 million in series B funding from Devonshire Investors, Rackspace Hosting and Toba Capital. Avalon Ventures, In-Q-Tel, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation purchased additional shares.

Big data startup LucidWorks raised $10 million from existing investors Shasta Ventures, Granite Ventures, and Walden International.

Middle Eastern online fashion retailer Namshi raised $13 million in a round led by Summit Partners.

Marqeta, which the powers the Facebook Card, raised $14 million in a Series B round from Greylock IL and Granite Ventures, as well as new investor Commerce Ventures, and several angel investors and unnamed strategic investors.

Social e-commerce site Luvocracy has raised $11.5 million in funding from Kleiner Perkins, Google Ventures, Marissa Mayer, Ali Pincus, Jim Lanzone, Tony Robbins, CrunchFund, RPM Ventures and XG Ventures.

BonitaSoft, a provider of open source business solutions, raised a $13 million series C funding led by the French National Fund for Digital Society. Additional investors included existing investors:Ventech, Auriga Partners and Serena Capital.
