Read more...It's the week of Vator Splash SF (#vatorsplash).
Once again, we'll bring top entrepreneurs onstage to share their lessons learned, failures and what it takes to build a business. Splash is one of the few venues that brings these stories to life. Those who've shared their lessons include Peter Thiel, Mark Pincus (Zynga), Tony Hsieh (Zappos), Tim Westergren (Pandora), Dick Costolo (Twitter), to name a few.
Check out the keynote video medley in this story, as well as their full keynotes and other keynote lessons here.
At Vator Splash SF this Thursday, we'll have Samir Arora, founder and CEO of Glam Media, share his lessons about building his business from start to a $1 billion market cap company, which has raised $150 million in funding.
Also at Splash is another entrepreneur with a very different story, but also with a startup that's valued at well over half-a-billion. Andy Kurtzig, founder and CEO of Pearl (formerly JustAnswer), also started his company in his spare bedroom. Unlike other founders who might have easily raised millions from venture capitalists, Kurtzig funded Pearl by himself until his startup started generating tens of millions of dollars. He eventually took a little financing and now Pearl is on track to hit $100 million in gross sales this year.
Join hundreds of high-tech influencers for Splash SF at Cafe du Nord othe evening of September 27, between 3:30 pm and midnight. We'll have an open wine bar, thanks to Cult of 8.
Register here before ticket prices jump up. And, let others know you're going by Tweeting #vatorsplash.
At Splash, we'll also continue our startup competition as the 10 finalists in our startup competition head to the stage. Among the judges include Amy Erett (Maveron), Adam Nash (Greylock), David Hornik (August Capital) Doug Renert (Tandem Capital), Noah Doyle (Javelin Venture Partners), Thomas Korte (AngelPad), Jeff Smith (Smule), Neal Hansch (Rustic Canyon), Josh Stein (DFJ), Jackson Gates (Corp Dev at Pandora), Wes Selke (Hub Ventures), Patrick Chung (NEA), Dan Scholnic (Trinity Ventures), Bryan Goldberg, founder of Bleacher Report, Rich Scudellari (DLA Piper), Andy Ross (Grant Thornton) and more. We'll also have Manu Rekhi of Inventus Capital and Patrick Dietzen of DoubleRock as online judges.
You won't want to miss Late Night with David Hornik. This is one of the more entertaining-yet-insightful VC panels. (Check out our last "Late Night" with David.)
And, finally, what's Splash without Coverflow? Don't miss our afterparty featuring VCs, angels and executives from Facebook. The Coverflow band stars Raj Kapoor (Mayfield), Tim Chang (Mayfield), Ethan Beard (formerly Facebook), Prashant Fuloria (Facebook), and Philip Kaplan (ADHD Labs).
Don't forget to Register Here before ticket prices jump up.
