You can count on drag racing’s biggest stars invading The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals, Halloween weekend this year. This is the second to last event in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing “Countdown to the Championship,” and will again be one of the most exciting races of the year. And it will all take place at what is rightly called “one of the top venues in drag racing, in the entertainment capitol of the world!”
In the Pro Mod class, Khalid Balooshi stayed in the Number 1 qualifying spot at the American Pro Mod Drag Racing Series during the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. Balooshi kept his Speedtech '68 Camaro at the top of the field with an impressive 5.985 second pass at 239.91 mph. Hopefully, Balooshi will hit the Jackpot at this year’s LV Nationals. Another contender, Nitro Funny Car and Pro Mod racer Melanie Troxel, also posted a five-second run with her 5.993 at 239.91 in Indy, which puts her in the provisional second spot in the points race.
The Renteria Brothers, and up-and-coming team from the west coast, should present tough competition in the outlaw Pro Mod class at the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals, along with Good Guys race team’s Marc Meadors and his ‘69 Camaro “Pure Hell 2.” Maggio Motor Sports 1970 Camaro, driven by Mike Maggio - who did an excellent job at Sonoma in July by becoming the number one qualifier during the Division 7 Drag Races – will be in the running at the LV Nationals. Dan Meyers and his 1957 Chevy Cameo pick-up will also be there to keep things on the edge of insanity and keep you on the edge of your seat.
Tickets for the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals are still available, so be sure to get yours before they sell out. When you hear (and feel) the unbelievable sounds and vibrations, you will know teams like John Force Racing, Don Schumacher Racing, the Mac Tools race team with Antron Brown, and others, are doing what they do best - bringing the world’s most exciting racing back to Las Vegas.
When you pair great racing with all the shops, food and maybe a pit access pass (where you can shake hands with your favorite driver, and get an autograph or maybe even a picture), you will create lifelong memories for you and your kids. So, make sure you get to “the biggest adult playground in the United States” in October and make a day of it at the track for the Las Vegas Nationals, presented by the NHRA and the Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.
