Read more...ChangeWave Research, a Maryland-based business and technology research firm, has been snapped up by technology industry analyst company the 451 Group. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ChangeWave is known for charting trends in business and technology, including changes in consumer spending behavior, corporate purchasing, and trends by industry. To track those trends, the company sends out a weekly survey to its network of over 25,000 professionals in the business, technology, and medical industries, as well as early adopter consumers. The firm's network spans 20 countries, and participants can subscribe to any of ChangeWave's three survey series: ChangeWave Telecom series, Consumer Spending & Electronics series, and Corporate Buying & Business Trends series.
The firm was co-founded in Rockville, MD by Paul Carton, Ph.D., whose background is in online survey research. As part of the deal, he will head the ChangeWave division of the 451 Group as VP of Research.
"The addition of ChangeWave Research to The 451 Group’s portfolio of companies dramatically enhances our ability to provide 451 Group clients with key proprietary survey data and statistically significant insight,” said Martin McCarthy, CEO of The 451 Group, in the company's statement. “With ChangeWave and our recent acquisition of TheInfoPro, we are able to deliver a deep and valuable reservoir of primary data sourced directly from IT buyers, enabling timely strategic senior-level decision-making."
Earlier this month, the 451 Group acuired TheInfoPro, an IT research firm that gathers insights from IT organizations around the world to provide a "real-world" perspective on changing customer and market dynamics in the IT world. Other IT research acquisitions include Tier1 Research and the Uptime Institute.
The 451 Group is a technology analyst company that provides insights on the enterprise IT industry and innovation in the technology market.
