Qik raised $6.3M; Jinni $5M; SoftTech $15; VC Tapjoy $21M; SEC investigates Facebook's fundraising

The Mac App Store is now available to the public. The store currently has more than 1,000 apps. The Mac App Store comes as part of a Software Update for Mac OS X v10.6.6.

 

Clickfree, an automatic backup service for PC and Mac, raised an undisclosed amount from Intel Capital.The company did reveal that this brings its total funding raised to more than $33 million.

 

Qik, a real-time video application for mobile phones, raised $6.3 million.  Investors in this round include  Quest Venture Partners and  Almaz Capital Partners.

 

Jinni, a Pandora-like service for TV shows,  has closed a $5 million Series B round of funding. The round was led by Belgacom and a “Tier-1 connected-TV manufacturer”. DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures also participated in the round.

Tapjoy, an app distribution platform,  raised $21 million. The round was led by Rho Ventures. Other investors in the round included  D. E. Shaw Ventures, InterWest Partners, and North Bridge Venture Partners.

 

 Cloudpic, the makers of virtual studios for artists, raised $6 million in funding. Funding can from Gobi Partners and EDBI Investments. The funds will be used to expand into Asia.

GM and Powermat have made a partnership. Powermat’s charging pads will be integrated into 2012 line of GM vehicles. The first car to be fitted with the charger will be the 2012 Chevy Volt.

 

SoftTech VC raised $15 million for a new fund, SoftTech VC III. Charles Hudson has also joined fund as a partner.

 

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) initiated a review of Goldman Sachs’ $450 million investment in Facebook.
