3VR raised $17M; Dashwire $1M; Zumigo $420,000; McAfee forecasts top cyber-criminal targets in 2011

McAfee released its security forecast, which lists top targets for cyber criminals in 2011. Items that have made the list include: Android, iPhone, Foursquare, URL-shortening services, Google TV and the Mac OS X platform.

Zumigo, a mobile messaging and location-based services startup, raised $420,000. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Zumigo was formed in 2008, and is currently based in San Jose, California.

A new order, signed by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, requires the government to switch to free software options, by 2012. This includes Linux-based operating systems. The order applies to all agencies funded by the federal budget.

Sears announced the launch of a Netflix-like movie download service, called Alphaline Entertainment. The service is a collaboration with Sonic Solutions’ RoxioNow platform. Users will be able to  download movies and and TV shows online.  The company plans to make the platform available to users on a variety of devices.

Dashwire, a mobile services platform for carriers, raised $1 million in debt financing. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Dashwire is based in Seattle.

Apple’s will ship 5 million to 6 million CDMA iPhones, for use on Verizon's network, in the first quarter of 2011. The global iPhone shipments for Q4 of 2010 was 15.5 million units.

3VR, a maker of video recording and search technology, raised $17 million. This was the fifth round of funding. The round was led by Menlo Ventures. Other investors in the round were not named in the release.

Facebook has 105.1 million monthly users, on smartphone platforms. On the iPhone alone, Facebook has 31.3 million daily active users. Currently, there is no official Facebook app for iPad users. Friendly, the unofficial app, currently has about 1.1 milllion monthly active users.
