Collaboration software designed with a Facebook-like touch, based in Barcelona

TeamboxCollaboration software creator Teambox announced Tuesday that it has closed a $250,000 seed funding round, the organization’s second angel investment. The company has now raised a little over $350,000.

Joining the Teambox board is Manel Sarasa, vice chairman of Openbravo, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) company.

Founded a little over a year ago, the startup is funded by Albert Feliu, co-founder of Infojobs (a career site for Spain, Italy, and Brazil), Diego Mariño (founder of Abiquo, cloud computing software), and the Priu family in Barcelona, where Teambox is based.

Teambox develops collaboration software designed specifically with the small business in mind.

“Teambox,” according to Pablo Villalba, CEO and founder of Teambox, “is at the heart of a new trend with new solutions for businesses, which we call the consumerization of corporate software.”

CRM and project management software were traditionally only an option for big businesses with lots of cash on hand, but the reduced cost of SaaS has changed all that.

Villalba’s affordable solution for businesses in the mid-market is a Facebook-like experience, where users can share tasks, documents and achieve goals together. As you can see in the picture above, users can share their thoughts, answer questions, manage tasks and see everyone's work in one place. It actually makes collaboration look more like fun than work.

Pricing plans for the service vary from $12 per month for personal usage to over $299 per month for the corporate scale.

The Barcelona-based startup has registered 50,000 new signups from over 20 different countries since its launch in March. New clients include freelancers and small businesses, large businesses like Amyris BioTech and the Mayo Clinic, and several universities like the University of Michigan and Penn State.
