5min teams up with Frontier Communications
The partnership will bring 5min's video catalog to Frontier's website, myfitv.com
5min Media is partnering with yet another media company as it continues to expand its reach across the Web. Frontier Communications announced Friday that it is partnering with Web-video syndication platform 5min Media to expand the catalog of videos on its website, Myfitv.com.
Currently, Myfitv.com offers 100,000 titles in TV shows, movies, news, sports, and video clips across the Web, most of which are free. The site aggregates the titles and redirects users to sites like Hulu and Amazon to watch the full video, and for certain new releases in movies, users can rent or buy movies on sites like Amazon for $3.99 for a 48 hour rental or full price for purchase.
The partnership will bring 5min Media’s catalog of professionally produced lifestyle video content to Myfitv.com. 5min currently distributes over 200,000 videos across 800 sites in 21 verticals, including 5minHome, 5minHealth, 5minParenting, 5minFashion, 5minFood, and more. To start with, 5min will power 20 channels on Myfitv.com and will expand in the coming months.
“With this partnership, we’re able to enhance the user experience on my fitv by providing users with a wide variety of high-quality lifestyle video content across the categories that interest them most,” said Ran Harnevo, CEO of 5min Media, in a prepared statement. “Our catalogue of premium videos will provide a perfect complement to Frontier’s existing offerings, while providing viewers with even more content choices.”
ComScore recently ranked 5min Media as one of the top 15 online video websites and it takes the number one spot across six verticals, including home, health, travel, pets, fashion/beauty, and food.
“Our partnership with 5min Media is a great way to continue to provide consumers anywhere with the best video content available on the Internet,” said Melinda White, executive vice president and general manager of marketing and new business operations for Frontier, in the company’s press release. “We believe this deal supports our goal of my fitv being a major go-to site for Internet television.”
Founded in 2006, 5min Media’s video syndication platform currently reaches over 160 million monthly uniques and features content from both large media companies and independent producers. In September 2010, 5min Media was acquired by AOL for $65 million.
Prior to its acquisition by AOL, 5min Media struck a deal with DailyMotion to bring its catalogue of five-minute videos to the French YouTube-like site. Before that, 5min sealed a deal to power Answer.com’s newly-launched video answers.
