Erik Moore, Founder of Oakland-based venture firm Base VC, sat down with serial entrepreneur and entertainer MC Hammer for a Fireside Chat at Splash Oakland. Hammer touched on his most recent venture: 140Energy, a cleantech startup and shared his thoughts on why the Oakland national narrative is way off, and how it’s just a matter of time before the capital shows up and the startups flourish.
“People follow the money,” said Hammer, after Moore asked him why the tech scene hasn’t blossomed in Oakland. “There’s going to be an entrepreneur who comes to Oakland who’s going to move the needle. There’ll be apps built around that company.”
