What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

Introducing innovative products is tough because breaking new ground is difficult: people are often resistant to change, especially when they have done things a certain way for a long time. But it is very rewarding when you see people finally make that change, shift their paradigm, or embrace a different way of thinking about what they are doing.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs/innovators make?

I feel unqualified to say, but I think a mistake a lot of people make is to have a lack of critical imagination in developing their ideas.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

1. Determination and perseverance are necessary—and sometimes pretty darn close to sufficient—for success.
2. Choose your team carefully, and then invest in them one hundred percent, because they will determine whether your ship sails.
3. Remember to stop, breathe, and remind yourself why you are doing what you're doing.
