In 2014 I was listed by Management Today Magazine and The Sunday Times as one of the UKs top 35 women in business under the age of 35. In 2015 I won the PRECIOUS award for outstanding woman in STEM and in 2016 was a ‘We are the City Rising Star’ award winner in the oil and gas category. Most recently I was on the WES/Daily Telegraph 2017 top 50 women in Engineering List.
I want to change the world.
I am a chartered electrical engineer and have worked in the Oil & Gas industry for over 11 years, working on various onshore and offshore oil and gas projects around the world.
In 2009 I became one of the company’s youngest lead electrical engineers, responsible for all aspects of electrical design as well as project planning and manpower forecasting. Most recently I worked in a non-technical sales role before starting my career break from engineering to have my first child.
I am a volunteer mentor for the IET with a passion for educating youngsters on what engineering is really about. I was also a STEM ambassador, visiting schools and colleges to talk about engineering as a career, particularly to girls and young women.

These awards gave me the opportunity and platform to further my passion of spreading the word about engineering as a career option for women, through media (e,g magazine articles and interviews). This is of particular importance with the current UK skills gap in STEM careers.
My passion for changing perceptions in engineering led me to set up Butterfly Books Limited in 2015, to publish career themed children’s picture books. By raising awareness of careers from a young age the books aim to reduce national skills gap problems as well as reduce gender bias in various careers. Current titles are ‘My Mummy is an Engineer’, ‘My Mummy is a Plumber’ and ‘My Mummy is a Scientist’.
