No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs make? Making an app for the sake of it.

Today's  Entrepreneur is Kate Edwards, Co-founder at Heartbeat. Heartbeat rewards millennial women for being their authentic selves on social media.

Heartbeat is network of 30,000 everyday millennial women who are bold, passionate, and influential in their real lives, not just their digital ones. They have created a strong brand around Heartbeat, and invite women to join the movement of empowerment - rewarding women for being their authentic selves rather than who they are supposed to be online.

Here's a little bit about Kate:

I am a(n): Entrepreneur

Companies I work or worked for:
Facebook, Three Day Rule, Textpert

If you are an entrepreneur, why?
I want to change the world.

My favorite startups:
Snapchat, NailSnaps, Overnight

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?
When people don't understand your vision because their brain works in a different way. I combat this through putting emphasis on communication - once you recognize that investors, developers, partners, and clients all use their brains in different ways, you can strategize around that.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs make?
Making an app for the sake of it. Please, I don't need anymore apps on my phone! Entrepreneurs also don't put enough emphasis on social skills and networking - product will always be #1, but networking should be #2.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?
1. You probably don't need that other co-founder.
2. Fundraising is exactly like dating.
3. You're going to need more whiteboards than you think.

We reward millennial women for being themselves on social media. We've built a network of 30,000 everyday millennial women who are "brand ambassadors on demand." They are bold, passionate, and influential in their real lives, not just their digital ones. We've created a strong brand around Heartbeat, and invite women to join the movement of #fempowerment - rewarding women for being their authentic selves rather than who they are supposed to be online.

We're experts at building a community of women through our lifestyle products and engaging social content, and our business model enables us to connect our powerful millennial audience with the brands who are trying to reach them.
