A new study, which looked at the online shopping habits of 1,000 respondents, found that consumers utilize a vast array of research tools when shopping online, including search, social, and mobile.

In spite of a report from earlier this week that Facebook growth is finally slowing, social networking is still one of the most important avenues of the Web. While in 2007, social networking accounted for just one out of every 12 minutes spent online, it now makes up one for every six minutes, according to comScore.

India-based online retailer Flipkart raised $20 million in a third round of funding from Tiger Global.

Lumosity, a site for brain teasers and memory exercises, closed its $32.5 million Series C round of funding led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from existing investors FirstMark Capital, Harrison Metal, and Norwest Venture Partners.

ShotSpotter, a developer of acoustic surveillance technology to locate gunshots and other explosions, closed a $10 million round of funding from existing investors City Light Capital, Claremont Creek Ventures, Labrador Ventures, Lauder Partners, Levensohn Venture Partners and others.

Smarter Agent, provider of a real estate search app for mobile, raised $6 million in new funding.

SoundCloud, a social website for sharing sounds and songs, surpassed five million users.

 

 

 

Zynga launched CityVille Hometown, a mobile spin on the insanely popular “CityVille” for the Facebook platform.
