Amazon sued by Apple for just-launched "Appstore"; Google fined €100,000 in Europe for data mining

8thBridge, which bills itself as a social commerce company, secured a $10 million Series B round led by Trident Capital, with help from existing investor Split Rock Partners. 

Social gaming company A Bit Lucky raised $5 million in new funding from South Korean gaming company Nexon.

 

 

Apple is suing Amazon for trademark infringement, arguing that the latter has overstepped boundaries by naming its app store the “Amazon Appstore." Meanwhile, the store, which for now offers Android apps, just launched.

Clickworker, a global crowdsourcing provider of business services including SEO text creation and data authentication, closed a €4.25 million (approx. $5.91 million USD) Series B round of financing led by European investors.

CrowdFlower raised $7 million in Series B funding led by Harmony Partners, with existing investors Trinity Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners participating.

The CNIL (Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertes), the administrative body that oversees data privacy law in France, hit Google with a €100,000 fine for its two-year data-collection spree.

IBM acquired TRIRIGA., a Las Vegas, Nevada-based provider of facility and real estate management software solutions. Financial terms were not disclosed.

 

The Meltwater Group, a social media and news monitoring companies, acquired JitterJam, social CRM software, for $6 million.

 

linkedFA, a social networking site that enables financial professionals to leverage social media compliantly by addressing industry rules and regulations, raised $3 million from existing private investors.

Personal publishing service Shutterfly acquired Tiny Prints, a privately owned company that specializes in stationary items such as announcements and invitations, for $333 million in cash and stock.
