Maxine Harris Brookner, Ph.D.

Maxine Brookner has a passion for solving the healthcare issues of the growing population of senior citizens and people with chronic conditions. With a background in long-term care, development, consulting and public policy, Maxine applies her knowledge of the health innovation ecosystem to create new models for emerging healthcare needs. • Maxine is founder of Pacific Gardens, an award-winning senior living community, where she authored its innovative strategic philosophy that emphasizes the physical and mental well being of the frail elderly and allows them multiple levels of care until end of life. • As a healthcare consultant, Maxine developed a $15 million assisted living/memory facility for a community-based nonprofit and performed market feasibility studies for the public and private sectors, including one for more than $1B of mortgage revenue bonds. • As a public policy consultant with the California State Senate, Maxine analyzed, developed and helped to pass legislation in local government, housing, and redevelopment. She co-wrote the first California bond allocation system that has been replicated in other CA bond allocation systems. Today, Maxine’s focus is on entrepreneurial products and services that lead to the physical and mental well being of elders and people with chronic conditions residing in their own homes. She is pursuing innovative ways that combine technology with holistic solutions to keep the elderly and people with chronic conditions mentally and physically well, avoiding hospital readmission.
