I love how there are so many businesses dedicated to funding programs to help better our environment. I wish there were just as many who would do the same to help better our teens. Today's youth for tomorrow's future. Quote_down

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

Most frustrating is trying to find the finances to continually develop a grass roots organization such as the one I've begun. The most rewarding, in my organization, is to see youth who, in the past, did not care about education or society but are now either going to 4-yr universities or becoming entrepenuers themselves and being a positive contributor to society. I feel we played a part in that.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs/innovators make?

Not planning properly.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

Plan.
Have a backup plan for you plan.
Have a backup plan for your backup plan.

Full bio

Kathy Sharpe started Wordical Productions, Inc. because she saw a need to help re-direct the minds and hearts of young people to become assets and positive influences in society as opposed to rebels. Because the media plays a huge role in shaping and molding our minds, Kathy decided to use this same tool to re-direct our youth. Since 1993, Kathy has worked with urban teens in the City of San Diego getting focused as a team to create positive urban productions that include their music, their issues, their personalities.  Because of the great demand and the outpouring of audiences to their performances, In September of 2006, Kathy decided to Incorporate and become a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. She has moved Wordical Productions from creating live stage productions to the addition of film projects, with their latest show now airing on You Tube as well as Time Warner Public Access Television.
