Tesla, Human Genomics,

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

The non linear path to success can be frustrating and requires deeply believing in a core thesis but remaining agile as the path evolves. This creates a roller coaster of mini successes and failures, acceleration and deceleration. The ride is certainly exhilarating but inherently stressful so you need to be able to celebrate the mini wins and not dive into a fox hole when you hit road bumps.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs/innovators make?

Not understanding the path required. No pro forma or even industry experience will prepare you for everything. A good rule of thumb is that things will take you twice as long and cost you twice as much. In my third start-up I've learned that no matter what I've previously learned, it's still going to require an enormous amount of sweat and hard work.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

Remain nimble and agile.
Seek lots of advice and bounce your ideas off of people, but be strong in your conviction and not swayed by negative naysayers.
Ideas are great but execution is everything.
