Doug Zanger didn't anticipate a career in radio and advertising when he graduated from the University of Denver with an International Studies degree. But the New Jersey boy, by way of Minneapolis, found himself manning weekends at a local radio station from midnight to 6am in Portland, Oregon. From that point on, his path was set. Doug went from on-air to morning show producer, to production/creative director for Rose City Radio before heading to Entercom Portland in 2004, where he served as creative director. In 2000, Doug started his own radio/audio advertising and marketing/branding agency. What began as a voice-over tax haven, became what's known today as Xhang Creative.
In 2007 Doug decided to pursue his dream of running the agency full-time, and Xhang Creative has since taken off, supporting clients from the Pacific Northwest, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Miami and Richmond, Virginia. As the founder CEO for Xhang Creative, he continually spreads the gospel of good creative, content and strategy. He is passionate about the auditory medium and strives to create change, working side-by-side with the Radio Advertising Bureau. As an adjunct professor at Mount Hood Community College in Oregon, Doug teaches younger generations about the importance of radio and advertising.
Xhang Creative has also just launched Small Plate Radio, a business unit dedicated to telling compelling and interesting brand and special-interest stories using the power of live, internet radio and podcasting.
He is also an active donor for the Freeplay Foundation, a non-profit organization that distributes hand-cranked and solar powered radios to remote areas of Africa with the purpose of delivering content and messaging that helps stem the tide of poverty.
