Too many thinkers, not enough tinkers
Too many co-founders and often the founders don't know each other well enough to make the commitment to each other required to build a company together. Breaking up is a terrible distraction and can be fatal to the startup.
1) Focus on what you are very good at doing, and surround yourself with people that are good at the other stuff; 2) The best time to take more capital is when investors are ready to give it to you; 3) Building a great company will take longer that you will forecast
Greg is the Founder and CEO of several companies and a Professor at New York University Stern School of Business.
Greg most recently launched CultureIQ, a software solution that helps companies better understand, manage and strengthen their organizational culture. Prior to launching CultureIQ, Greg was the CFO of SecondMarket Holdings. Prior to joining SecondMarket, Greg was the Founder and CEO of Computershare Executive Services, a Software as a Service ("SaaS") company formally known as Restricted Stock Systems, Inc. (“RSS”), from 2000 until 2009. In 2007, Greg sold RSS to Computershare Limited and he remained as President until January of 2009. During his tenure as CEO of RSS, Greg was named the Ernst & Young 2003 Entrepreneur of the Year in New Jersey. Greg is also Co-Founder and President of Leslie Hsu LLC, a fashion accessories company that he and his partner founded in 2000.
Greg is an investor and Board member for numerous companies. Of note, he was an active investor and consultant for Zappos.com until the company's sale to Amazon.com. Greg also serves on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations including the Willa’s Wish Foundation, Inc., The Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, and the Young Presidents’ Organization (“YPO”) NJ Chapter.
Greg earned his M.B.A from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and earned his B.A. from Rutgers University.
