What they haven't been able to do is see specialists through One Medical, but that's changed now that the company has announced a partnership with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH), which part of CommonSpirit, a Catholic health system based in the United States that has the country's largest and second-largest nonprofit hospital chain.
This collaboration gives One Medical members in the greater Seattle area access to over 2,000 specialists as part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health’s integrated network of providers, outpatient facilities and hospitals.
Founded in 2007, One Medical patients get access to health professionals, 24/7 virtual care, and same-day appointments. They are able to enjoy more quality time with their provider during longer appointments, they can e-mail their provider directly with follow up questions, get access to 24/7 phone support and stay connected and on top of their health with the One Medical mobile app. Patients can also schedule same- or next-day appointments via phone, app or online.
The company currently has locations in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Columbus, the D.C. Metro Area, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Orange County, Phoenix, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, San Diego, Seattle, and the SF Bay Area, with locations coming soon to Dallas–Ft. Worth, Miami, and Milwaukee.
One Medical's Seattle-based clinics are located in the neighborhoods of Ballard, Bellevue - Lincoln Square, Capitol Hill, Downtown Seattle, Fremont, Pike Place, South Lake Union, and Totem Lake.
In 2022, Amazon revealed it was buying One Medical for $3.9 billion; the deal officially closed in February. Earlier this month, Amazon launched One Medical for Prime, allowing Amazon Prime members to access the service for $9 a month.
VMFH, meanwhile, is an integrated health system serving the Puget Sound region, that includes a team of 18,000 team members, including nearly 5,000 employed physicians and affiliated providers.
The company provides care across 10 hospitals and nearly 300 sites of care throughout the Puget Sound area. It is also the home of Bailey-Boushay House, the first skilled nursing and outpatient chronic care management program in the United States designed specifically to meet the needs of people with HIV/AIDS, and Benaroya Research Institute.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health to offer seamless coordinated care across primary and specialty settings to help deliver the highest levels of health, care and value,” Trent Green, chief executive officer at One Medical, said in a statement.
“Teaming up with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health further advances One Medical’s mission of transforming health care to improve the patient care experience in the Seattle area.”
