Ticket aggregation site lands $5.5 billion in funding

There's Expedia for airline tickets. Now, there's FanSnap for concerts, sports and theater. Apparently, it's a big enough opportunity for General Catalyst Partners.

FanSnap, which launched its public beta in October 2008, raised another $5.5 million in funding from General Catalyst Partners, according to a release.

With so many options to find and purchase tickets, FanSnap’s value is that it can search through quite a bit of ticket reselling sites.

FanSnap provides search results for Ace Ticket, AllShows.com, Barry's Tickets, Gold Coast Tickets, Las Vegas Tickets, RazorGator, StubHub, and TicketNetwork.

FanSnap lets you compare these ticket results based on a number of criteria including price, section, and providers. I did a search for one of my favorite bands and found the interface very clean and fluid.

For example using a slider like this gives instant results on the page without having to wait for any loading time.

For those of you who dread negotiating prices with ticket scalpers, FanSnap helps you find tickets with simplicity and ease.
