No. 1 mistake: Being too in love with their own idea

Today's Entrepreneur is Jedd Gold, founder and CEO of The Kive Company, the People's Choice winner of Splash SF 2013.

The Kive Company allows parents to take, tag, and chronologically store your child's art and school work - then turn it into a hard cover book with little more than the touch of a button.

According to his VEQ, Jedd is a thought leader and is good at team product design and marketing management.

Vator’s community is the home to entrepreneurs who embrace their passion and follow their dreams. Our profiles allow members to express themselves by sharing their interests, lessons learned, as well as bits and pieces of their roller-coaster journey.

These profiles give entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase themselves and tell their story. So if you are an entrepreneur, a serial entrepreneur, or even an aspiring entrepreneur, we'd like to hear from you.

I am a(n):
Entrepreneur

Companies I've founded or co-founded:
The Kive Company, Tandem Learning

If you are an entrepreneur, why?
I want to change the world.

My favorite startups:
Currently it's: Lyft, Loyal Dash, Squabbler

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?
The most frustrating thing is having an idea that you believe is a winner and not being able to get the support, for any number of reasons, needed to make it a reality.
Most rewarding is getting up everyday knowing that you get to work on something you believe in and getting to prove to the world you can make it happen.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs make?
Being too in love with their own idea and so at times making emotional rather than strategic decisions for the business

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

1) Be patient - everything takes longer than you think
2) Having a partner makes things exponentially easier (in so many ways) than going it alone.
3) Stay true to your vision but don't be afraid to pivot if necessary

Nearly every parent in the world has faced the same problem: what to do with all that artwork kids create.  It may seem like a trivial issue, but the initial, overwhelming response to Artkive would tell you otherwise.

With Artkive, you'll never again feel guilty about throwing stuff away. Artkive is the easiest and fastest way to take, tag, and chronologically store your child's art and school work - then turn it into a hard cover book with little more than the touch of a button.  Think Grandma wants to see that artwork? We make that easy too...

Here's a short video about a mom who gets caught throwing away artwork:
