Three funding rounds, a launch and an acquisition

10gen, which sponsors open source non-relational database MongoDB, secured $20 million in financing led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from existing investors Flybridge Capital and Union Square Ventures.

 

Freestyle Capital, a new VC firm that will focus on early-stage startups, raised $27 million in investment funds from limited partners Cendana Capital and Hall Capital.

FriendFinder Networks, parent company of FriendFinder.com, Amigos.com, BigChurch.com and more, acquired BDM Global Ventures, which owns daily deals site JigoCity, for up to $65 million in a combination of stock and warrants.

Punchbowl launched Digital Greeting Cards, a service that offers the ability to send well-wishes online that have the look and feel of a traditional paper greeting card.

 StatSheet, a sports data site formerly known as Automated Insights, secured $4 million led by Court Square Ventures and OCA Ventures, with participation from others.
