Read more...It's almost time for Vator Splash NY. In just about one week, Dec. 15 to be exact, we'll be launching our first-ever evening gathering in Manhattan.
We know it's the holidays and many of you will likely have multiple places to go for "free." The ticket price for just an evening event is probably too expensive for some (especially those who have to travel). So, we've decided to give away 10 free tickets to Vator Splash NY.
Here's how you can win: Just post a Tweet with the hashtag "#VatorSplashNY" and let us know what you want to get out of the event. You can also leave a comment here or post a News Bite on your Vator company profile.
Just like our last contest for our favorite Tweet, the winners will be chosen based on originality of post.
The winners will be chosen by Wednesday, and we'll let the winners know before the end of the day Wednesday.
If you don't want to try to "win" a ticket, use the Vator discount code "Vator25" for 25% off. You can register here: https://vatorsplashny.eventbrite.com
Volunteers get in for free. If you're interested in volunteering for Vator Splash NY, please contact us at hello@vator.tv. Students get a steep discount.
If you want to see who's made the second round semi-finalist stage of the online competition, check out the Vator Splash NY competition.
At the moment, venture capitalists, including RRE Ventures' Eric Wiesen, Polaris Ventures' Pete Flint, Greenhill SAVP's Brian Hirsch, Venrock's David Pakman, Greycroft's Drew Lipsher, TechStars' David Tisch, DBJ Capital's Deborah Jackson, Traver Hutchins (angel investor and founder/Chairman of Remedy Health), Owen Davis of NY Seed and Amish Jani of FirstMark are busy judging away to see which of the semi-finalists will make it onstage next week.
Once again, thanks to RRE Ventures, which is backing Vator Splash NY to ensure that the event is one that rocks the house. Indeed, Vator Splash NY will have an open bar from 5 pm to 11 pm. So, it'll not only be a great event to be onstage, it'll be a fun holiday networking evening.
Finally, we're happy to announce that Henry Blodget, founder and CEO of Business Insider will be one of our keynote speakers, sharing his lessons and advice about being an entrepreneur. He'll join two of New York's sharpest entrepreneurs as they also share their nuggets of wisdom about entrepreneurship. Fresh off the Boxee launch, Avner Ronen, CEO of Boxee will talk about launching in the highly competitive set top box space against Apple, Google, Roku etc. and Blip.tv co-founder and CEO, Mike Hudack, will talk about how his efforts to build knowledge management software resulted in Blip.tv.
