Facebook too confusing for older folks?

Recent study shows Facebook seeing decline in users over 55

Facebook just picked up a nice $200 million chunk of cash from Russian investment firm Digital Sky Technologies, but what now?  It can keep working on strategies to become cash-flow-positive, or maybe it can figure this one out – why are users over 55 tuning out of Facebook?

In a recent study from InsideFacebook, it was found that fewer users over 55 are coming back to the social networking site.  In April and May of this year, Facebook saw the number of active users in its well, older demographic of users, decreased by 650,000. Perhaps this has to do with the recent Twitteresque changes Facebook has made, like real time streaming updates - I know I was slightly confused when they came out.

Overall, Facebook's US audience growth has slowed significantly in the past couple months, says the study.  In February and March, Facebook grew by 10.8 million active users in the US.  On the other hand, in April and May, Facebook grew only by 4.35 million active users in the US.

The full study can be checked out here.
