After a couple weeks worth of mobile news, Adobe keeps the updates coming
Adobe
revealed Thursday that this weekend it will be launching a new version of
Acrobat.com, an online platform which allows for PDF conversion, web conferencing, and more. Included in the announcement is the news that Adobe will likewise be releasing both iPhone and BlackBerry applications for Acrobat.com.
The new Acrobat.com, which launches this Saturday, Nov. 21 at 3:00am PST, consolidates all of the user's files--documents, spreadsheets, presentations--into one central hub, for easier access. Both free and premium versions of the site are available, though free accounts are limited. For example, the mobile app will only let free users send two faxes and upload five documents from their phone each month.
For current users of Acrobat.com, the release of a mobile app will be a welcome update, as the whole benefit of these kinds of sites is to make one's data available from anywhere at anytime, as long as the right device is connected to the Web. By opening the site up to two very popular business devices, the iPhone and BlackBerry, Adobe will surely be pleasing a lot of its customers.
Adobe has been delivering some serious mobile love over the past few weeks.
On November 9, Adobe released
an Android version of its mini-photo editing application at Photoshop.com. On the same day, Adobe expanded
its collaboration with RIM to enable application developers to utilize the Adobe Flash Platform and Adobe Creative Suite solutions to enrich the mobile experience for BlackBerry users. Finally, on Tuesday of this week, Adobe made its Flash Player 10.1
available in beta for PCs only, though the company promises that mobile support should be coming shortly.
Expect no slow down from Adobe and other big name companies: business is going mobile.
