Read more...Despite the fact that we're living through the worst economic time in history, some people are still partying like it's the '90s. Or in this case, circa 1970.
At Bimbo's in the North Beach district of San Francisco, I followed a man dressed like Elvis into the club. We were both attending Zynga's holiday party. He wouldn't be the only donning spandex. Clearly, I was dressed inappropriately. It was 70's night at Bimbo's.
Welcoming me to the event was Amelia Shuga, Chief Culinary Officer, at Zynga, one of the hottest online gaming startups.
I also ran into disco-dancing Andrew Trader (aka "A.T.), Zynga's EVP of Sales and Business Development, who - not surprisingly - spoke glowingly about his team. A.T. sported the big white wig.
Zynga founder and CEO Mark Pincus told me he chose the theme because he liked the band, named appropriately, Grooveline.
After a few sips of wine from the
open bar, Pincus and I had a conversation about some upcoming products in
2009.
Enjoy the piece - interviews, wild partying, dancing and all.
