Platform.sh, an end-to-end cloud platform as a service (PaaS), this week announced that it would be acquiring Blackfire.io. Blackfire is a code observability service that helps businesses improve the performance of their web applications through detailed insights.

According to the press release, Platform.sh will be using tech from Blackfire to help give its cloud customers better insights into how their websites and apps are performing through instant cloning.

What this means for Platform.sh's customers is that they will be able to get a better idea of what is working and where bottlenecks may lie without pushing major updates live first, while still getting a comprehensive overview into site health through tracing and call graphs.

"With this acquisition Platform.sh furthers our vision that organizations should focus on building meaningful digital applications and experiences with relevant business outcomes, instead of managing infrastructure. With the addition of Blackfire to Platform.sh our customers can continuously track the performance of their entire website fleet, and discover areas to improve their end users' experience," says Platform.sh CEO Fred Plais.

In a blog post discussing the acquisition, Plais notes that the success of Platform.sh has been great, with the company ranking high on G2. He goes on to state that one of the things they noticed when reading reviews was that customers wished they had more metric and monitoring tools for monitoring web application health.

For current Blackfire customers, Platform.sh notes it "will continue to support Blackfire Profiler and Blackfire Monitoring customers regardless of where their websites and applications run."
