The money will go to help their Intelligence Layer distribution build better AIs

There are a lot of artificial intelligence startups and businesses popping up, and for good reason. The uses for artificial intelligence are going through the roof and any company that can find quicker or better ways of implementing AI and deep learning has a chance to be successful.

Skymind is one such company and their latest funding round of $3 million shows that investors have faith in their vision. Chinese web company Tencent Holdings LTD. and Y Combinator led the round, joining the likes of Lookout Security Inc. and lead vocalist of Muse, Matthew Bellamy. The money will be going towards their open source project, Deeplearning4j and their Intelligence Layer. This open source framework can make the development of artificial intelligence applications easier and quicker.

The enterprise solution, Skymind Intelligence Layer (SKIL), packages together many of the things needed to get an enterprise up and running with their Deeplearning4j and other open sourced tools. The package uses a graphical user interface and can be used in public clouds or in-house data centers.

With AI systems, implementation can be a timely process and anything that speeds up the process can be greatly beneficial to enterprise solutions. One of the reasons Skymind's framework works so well is that it is coded in Java, the standard coding language for corporate solutions. This helps adoption and can be easier to work with than other solutions. In additional to the Java coding, Skymind also has a great support system and programmers can call a service representative with any questions that might arise.

AI isn't going anywhere and will continue to spread throughout business and enterprise solutions. With companies like Skymind innovating and improving the system, artificial intelligence will continue to see quicker implementation and more creative applications.

Skymind was founded in 2013 and has 15 employees located throughout the world. The company is headquartered in San Francisco. Find out more about Skymind here.
