Today's Entrepreneur: Joshua Kaufman, co-founder of Atly
Long-term success requires founders to prioritize perseverance, dedication, and consistency
Read more...Today's Entrepreneur is Drew Schiller, Co-founder and CTO at Validic. Validic provides the industry's leading digital health platform connecting providers, pharmaceutical companies, payers, wellness companies and healthcare IT vendors to health data gathered from hundreds of in-home clinical devices, wearables and consumer healthcare applications. Reaching more than 223 million lives in 47 countries, its scalable, cloud-based solution offers one connection to a continuously-expanding ecosystem of consumer and clinical health data, delivering the standardized and actionable insight needed to drive better health outcomes and power improved population health, care coordination and patient engagement initiatives.
Schiller is a graduate of Computer Science and graphic design last 2004 in University of Iowa. He has founded other health related startup, Gluten Free Basics LLC.
Here's a little about Schiller:
Founded Validic, healthcare's leading platform for connecting patient generated health data with the enterprise. Invented VitalSnap, an OCR technology that enables millions of patients with untethered medical devices in the home to connect that data with their healthcare providers.
Most frustrating: how long it takes to find product/market fit and gain real traction. Most rewarding: having people stumble over themselves to pay for something you built.
1. If someone isn't interested in paying for your product, ask them what they would pay for. 2. Reputations follow you, so treat everyone well. 3. We are so fortunate to be living in an era where it is this easy to start a new company and iterate on ideas.
Drew Schiller co-founded and serves as the Chief Technology Officer of Validic, the leading digital health platform for connecting patient-generated data from apps, wearables, and in-home medical devices to the healthcare system. At Validic, Drew leads the product and technology strategy, drives key initiatives, and works closely with senior executives at partner organizations to stay ahead of the innovation curve.
Drew believes that digital health will reshape healthcare. He speaks, writes, and provides interviews on a variety of digital health topics, including connected health, the future of digital health technology, interoperability and data access, digital health privacy and security, open data and standards, as well as practical use cases regarding how consumer health devices can be used in clinical settings to improve the quality of care, better health outcomes, and reduce healthcare costs.
Drew serves on the Board of Directors for Validic, helping govern the corporate strategy, identity, and mission. He is a member of the Federal Advisory Committee joint HITPC/HITSC API Task Force on Meaningful Use 3. Additionally, he sits on the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) Health & Fitness Technology Board and contributes to CTA Health & Fitness subcommittees on Interoperability, Privacy and Security, and Standards. As head of a CTA subcommittee on Standards, Drew is charged with helping define standards for physical activity across wearable devices. In addition to his work with CTA, Drew serves on the Leadership Council for the eHealth Initiative (eHI) and participates in the eHI Interoperability Workgroup.
Before co-founding Validic, Drew started and managed an award-winning web development firm for eight years. He also founded and exited a niche dietary nutrition website for patients with celiac disease, and served as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Iowa teaching graduate courses in web development and usability.
Drew Schiller is speaking at Splash Health at one of the panels on Feb. 23 at Kaiser Center, Oakland. Register here.
