Reports suggest Apple has worked out the kinks and is ready to release the elusive white iPhone

After months repeated delays that have generated a fog of confusion and speculation, Apple is now rumored to be gearing up to release the white iPhone at the end of April, Bloomberg reports.

The white iPhone was first delayed at the summer 2010 launch of the iPhone 4. Some suggested that the white iPhone has experienced color matching problems, and others have reported that light bleeds through, but a number of attendants at the iPhone 4 launch played with the white iPhone and didn’t notice anything wrong with it.

That announcement was followed by another in July saying that the white iPhone would be released later that year, but with no explanation as to why. Finally, in October, Apple announced that it would be delaying the release of the white iPhone until spring 2011, saying only that it was "more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected.”

So what were the challenges? Evidently there was a problem with the paint peeling under heat, according to individuals close to the matter. And there were problems with a sensor as well. The good news is that the device will be available for both AT&T and Verizon, just like the black version.

When Apple last announced that it would be delaying the white iPhone until spring 2011, it seemed somewhat unlikely, considering the fact that Apple usually launches its upgraded iPhones in the summer.

And then there was also the fact that Apple was widely expected to launch a CDMA-compatible iPhone for Verizon in January. A new iPhone in the winter, spring, and summer sounded pretty noisy, which is why it makes sense that Apple has reportedly decided to skip its traditional June iPhone launch at the summer developers conference.

Fingers crossed we’ll luck out and Apple will unexpectedly unveil the new iPhone 5 with the white iPhone at the end of April!
