Say No to “No”
Today’s lesson is in discipline, determination, and industriousness. These principles will be the key to you attaining what you want out of life. Word on the streets is you want to live big, to achieve greatness, and to do the unimaginable. Who said that you didn’t imagine though?
In getting used to my own journey of living my dreams and going after my Personal Legend, I’ve noticed that many before me did what they wanted to do and got what they wanted out of life by following these seven steps:
Don’t take no for an answer. No is just a speed bump, not a barricade. Ask again or ask someone else. What you want is always achievable.
Don’t allow your mind to think negatively. If you feel you can’t, you can’t. Your mind is the center of your motivation and telling it that it can’t do something will make those thoughts believable. If you believe you can’t, you won’t.
Work hard. You can’t be lazy and expect good things to come to you. Getting up early and staying up late is the bread of those who reach their goals. Working hard means sacrifice. You have to do what you have to do to get what you want to get.
Associate with supporters. If you surround yourself with people who are supportive of your dreams and aspirations, you will stay motivated. Naysayers are ever present. However, deriving strength from your fellow team members or your fans will push you to making a touchdown.
Be unrealistic. Opposers will likely advise against thinking bigger than what’s common. However, how on earth will you do beyond the norm if you can’t visualize it? Purposely plan to do what has never been done before.
Stick to it. My grandmother always tells me to have some stick-to-it-iveness. Don’t just start things. Finish them. Begin your journey and stay on the path until you see your efforts bearing fruit. Quitting too early will lead to feelings of failure and who wants to feel that way?
Stay humble. To be great or to do great things doesn’t require you to think of yourself as better than the next man. Keeping a level head and remembering where you came from will motivate you to be ever grateful and will likely motivate you to keep fighting. Getting too big in the head will lead to your downfall.
Whoever said you can’t do what you envision for yourself is a liar. Anything is possible. Go after your dreams and be great.
