Read more...Flowtown, a social marketing platform with the goal of helping businesses turn email contacts into engaged customers, with the help of social media platforms, said this week that it's raised $750K in seed funding from angel investors including Mitch Kapor, Mark Goines , Dave McClure, Steve Anderson, Saar Gur, Travis Kalanick, Auren Hoffman, Brian Norgard, and Dan Gould.
The capital will be used to invest in more staff for the company, specifically in Ruby developers for the companies software, accoriding to Ethan Bloch, founder and CEO of Flowtown. [Stay tuned for my upcoming interview with Bloch.]
Flowtown develops software that allows companies to use customers email contacts to create demographic and socialgraphic data about their customers. These addresses are used to show a company who their customers are and where they spend time on the social web so marketing efforts can be targeted more effectivly. Flowtown also sorts customers, and assignes each one an influence scores, designed to help companies spot users with a high level of social capitol and identify potential brand ambassadors. "Email has been left behind in the social evolution. But with Flowtown, the simple email address unlocks tremendous insight about customers.
Businesses can now actually see the people behind the addresses, enabling them to better tailor how and where they engage," explained Bloch. "In short, Flowtown gives businesses the right tools to build stronger and more personal relationships with their customers."
Since its launch in November 2009, the company reports 35% month-over-month customer growth with more than 15,000 businesses now on Flowtown. The company can be found on Twitter and Facebook.
