Michael Chasen, who in 2012 left his CEO post at Blackboard, a company he founded and took public, is back at it again with he new company SocialRadar, a new mobile service to know who’s around you. The startup officially launched its iPhone app Thursday.

Recently, I sat down with Chasen (please excuse the video quality. I recorded this with my Flipcam, if you couldn’t tell). We talked at length about what the new service is as well as how he plans to get distribution and users.

SocialRadar has raised $12.75 million in seed financing from New Enterprise Associates, Grotech Ventures, and SWaN and Legend Ventures, along with notable angesl, such as Steve Case and Ted Leonsis.
